What Happens If Your Subscription Lapses

If a payment fails or a plan ends, protection doesn't vanish instantly. Here's the grace period, what changes, and how to restore everything.

The sequence of events

  1. Grace period: after a failed payment or plan end, your household enters a grace window — the gateway keeps enforcing your full rule set while we retry the payment and notify you by email. Nothing visible changes for your family.
  2. Suspension: if the payment still can't be resolved, remote management pauses: the portal becomes read-only, rule changes you make won't reach the gateway, and reports and notifications stop. The gateway itself continues enforcing the last-applied policy — your kids' bedtime and category blocks keep working from the local rules.
  3. Cancellation: with the plan fully ended, the gateway eventually stops filtering as a licensed product and your household is archived.

What to do

The emails during the grace period tell you exactly what failed — usually an expired card. Updating your payment method on the subscription page restores everything instantly, with no rule loss and no re-activation. If you ever cancel deliberately, your history remains available for a period in case you return.

The design intent

A billing hiccup shouldn't leave your kids unfiltered overnight — that's why enforcement continues through grace and suspension, and why the emails are specific about the fix rather than generic warnings.
