Customizing Category Rules for Each Age Group

Every family draws the line differently. Learn how to block, allow, or keep the default for any category, per age tier, from the filtering page.

Where rules live

Open Filtering in the portal to see the category matrix: rows are content categories (Adult, Gambling, Social, Gaming, AI Services, and more) and columns are the age tiers. Each cell shows the current action — block, allow, or the platform default.

The three actions

  • Block: the category is off for that tier, on every device that tier's profile covers.
  • Allow: you're deliberately opening a category the default blocks — for example allowing social media for your young-adult tier.
  • Inherit default: your household follows the platform's recommended setting, which is also what updates automatically as our categories improve.

Making changes safely

Changes apply within about a minute and cover every assigned device — no per-device work. If you're unsure about a category, browse it yourself first. And remember the matrix is per tier: opening social media for your teen doesn't open it for your eight-year-old, because they're in different tiers.
