Age Tiers Explained: Child, Young Adult, and Adult
Every profile is built on one of three age tiers, each with its own starting rules. Here's what each tier blocks by default and how they differ.
Why tiers instead of ages
Fine-grained age settings are hard to keep current. Guardian-CORR uses three well-tested tiers, each with defaults tuned to a stage of development. You can customize any single category afterward — the tier is just the starting point.
Child
The strictest tier. Blocks adult content and pornography, gambling, dating, weapons, drugs, and mature social categories by default, and is the tier that most benefits from a bedtime schedule. Best for roughly ages 5–12.
Young adult
Relaxes the tiers that no longer fit a teenager — social media, moderate gaming and news — while keeping hard limits on adult content, gambling, and dating sites. Best for roughly ages 13–17, and a reasonable "prove you're ready" step.
Adult
Baseline protection only: malware, phishing, and illegal content stay blocked, everything else is allowed. Your own devices and shared household devices like the living-room TV usually belong here.
Moving up
Promoting a child's profile to the next tier takes one click on their profile page, and you can tighten any single category that you're not ready to open yet.
