Activating Your Gateway With the QR Code
The QR code on the bottom of your gateway links the hardware to your household in one scan. Here's how activation works and what to do if the scan fails.
Why activation matters
Activation is the step that ties your gateway hardware to your household account. Until it completes, the gateway enforces nothing and your portal shows it as awaiting setup.
How to activate
- Sign in to the parent portal and open the Setup page.
- Scan the QR code on the bottom of the gateway with your phone camera, or enter the serial printed beneath it.
- Keep the gateway powered on and connected to your router while it registers — usually under a minute.
Once linked, the portal shows the gateway as Activated, and your default family rules begin protecting the network right away.
If the scan fails
Make sure the gateway's status light is solid before scanning. If activation still fails, check that your router is online, restart the gateway, and try again. Each gateway can only belong to one household — if you're re-activating a unit from another account, contact support to release it first.
